Steroids...

This is an email I sent summarizing my thoughts on steroids in baseball. One portion has been edited for the general public.

Charissa - grammar was not a priority in this composing this message.

Full disclosure - A-Rod is one of my two favorite baseball players...
When I was young is was Bo Jackson & Ryne Sanderg. Then Griffey Jr when he came in the league and then Griffey and A-Rod once he came in the league.

Players ---

Sure they are jackasses for doing 'roids but it doesn't really make a difference to me. It is what it is.

I think McGwire, Bonds, Clemens, A-Rod etc. belong in the hall of fame (well not Sosa. I hate that guy. Even when I was walking in darkness I hated him and way before the sheep* finally turned on him).

Unless MLB is going to take away their stats, count the games they played in and won as losses or release the names of everyone who has tested positive I don't think they can be kept out.

Owners & Bud ---

I find this the most irritating group of them all. I cannot stand the fact they are pretending as though they had no idea this was going on & acting like they didn't turn a blind eye because they were making money hand over fist.

Fans ---

Fans who couldn't look at side by side pictures of early 90s Sosa & McGwire and 97 Sosa & McGwire and figure out that they were doing a little more than training, saying prayers & taking their vitamins & creatine... Fans who cry about the 'purity' of the game being tainted & call sports talk shows and say 'how do I explain this to my kids?' = Not smart - all of them...

Media ---

I heard Buster Olney interviewed on the radio today & the host basically asked 'Didn't you guys (media) know this was going on? Why didn't anyone say anything?' Buster said he never had 100% proof of who was doing it but he had a good idea on some. He also said it's kind of like telling on a guy who is cheating on his wife. It's not something you really do especially if you aren't 100% sure.'

I'll buy it... At the time there were no rules against... BUT the writers can't have it both ways. They can't know about it, not say anything & then not vote them in the hall of fame because they used steroids.

That is all...
